Head and Neck Cancer Imaging Studies

A diagnosis of head and neck cancer can make you feel uncertain about your future. But Cedars-Sinai's treatments and expertise can help you live the best possible quality of life.

We offer the highest level of care, such as 4D CT scans, PET/MRI and CT PET scans. Our experts pioneered some of these technologies, which means we were among the first in the country to offer them. And our team includes imaging specialists who can catch subtle signs of cancer that are easy to miss.

Our Approach to Head and Neck Cancer Imaging

At Cedars-Sinai, head and neck cancer imaging is a team effort:

  • Head and neck cancer experts recommend the tests that are best for your situation after a thorough exam.
  • Brain imaging doctors (neuroradiologists) interpret your scans. Our team includes neuroradiologists with additional training in head and neck cancer. This allows us to make precise interpretations, even for rare cancers.
  • Our tumor board, which includes more than 20 cancer specialists, discusses the results and what they mean for your care. We are one of the few programs in the L.A. area with a dedicated head and neck cancer tumor board.

  • Plan treatments: Imaging studies allow us to determine which treatments are best for your circumstances and meticulously plan each therapy. Read more about what to expect during head and neck cancer treatment
  • Deliver effective care: We use imaging during surgical procedures, such as a thyroidectomy, to ensure we remove trace levels of cancer. Find out more about thyroidectomy
