Mechanical Circulatory Support Program

The Mechanical Circulatory Support Program at the Smidt Heart Institute provides complete state-of-the-art care for patients with heart failure.

Mechanical devices that help the heart pump blood can save the lives of patients awaiting a donor transplant. For others, an implanted device can become a permanent treatment.

Led by Jaime Moriguchi, MD, Cedars-Sinai's program offers the most innovative cardiac technology, including left and right ventricular assist devices and Total Artificial Heart. Patients can access novel technologies through clinical trials.

Because the program is an integral part of the Heart Institute, patients have access to the nation's best cardiac programs and centers, including the Heart Transplant Program and Heart Failure Program.
