MRI Brain with Fiducials

A specialized MRI brain with markers in place for surgical planning, usually for a tumor resection. No contrast is used for this study.

For preparation instructions, please visit Brain MRI.

Markers are placed at the scanner by technologists (they look like little lifesavers) assisting the surgeon in aligning the images to your head. Fiducials are placed on the forehead, on the face and behind the ear. They do not interfere with your hair. MRI with fiducials should be ordered as close to the time of surgery as possible, because you can not shower or wash your face once they have been placed.
