Pulmonary Vascular Disease
Pulmonary vascular disease (PVD) is a group of conditions affecting the blood vessels in the lungs. These conditions, including pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary embolism, can damage or block the arteries, increasing your risk for life-threatening complications.
At Cedars-Sinai, our internationally renowned doctors use sophisticated tests to recognize the symptoms of these conditions and treat them quickly. Our pulmonary vascular disease experts work with other specialists to develop a personalized care plan to help lower your risk for future problems.
Pulmonary Embolism Response Team
We are among the first programs in the country with a Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT). This team of specialists provides rapid evaluations for patients with life-threatening symptoms of pulmonary embolism (PE). Our PERT includes Cedars-Sinai experts in pulmonology and critical care, interventional cardiology, interventional radiology and cardiothoracic surgery. We also work with specialists in vascular surgery and hematology, as needed, so you receive the appropriate care.
We are advancing pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary embolism care through research and clinical trials. Our efforts mean you have access to treatment options and innovative care methods, sometimes before they are widely available.
Researchers and doctors at Cedars-Sinai have pioneered medical advances in testing and treatments for lung diseases, leading to better patient outcomes. Learn more about our current pulmonary research.
